Immunizations for Travelers

Vaccine-Preventable Diseases are only a plane-ride away!

Bring back souveniers from your trip, not diseases…

Additional immunizations are recommended for international travelers depending on the location to which you will be traveling. Some countries even require certain vaccinations, such as the Yellow Fever vaccination. Please visit the CDC’s Traveler’s Health website for more information on the vaccines that are recommended or required for international travel. this website also includes specific travel information for infants and children as well as individuals with chronic disease, who are immune compromised, or are pregnant.

It is recommended that international travelers visit their healthcare provider at least 4 to 6 weeks before their trip. Most vaccines take time to become effective in your body and some vaccines must be given in a series over a period of days or sometimes weeks. If it is less than 4 weeks before you leave, you should still see your doctor. You will still benefit from shots or medications and other information about how to protect yourself from illness and injury while traveling.
Be sure that you and your family are up to date on your routine vaccinations as well. These vaccines are necessary for protection from diseases that are still common in many parts of the world.
