Wild, Wonderful & Healthy WV

Wild, Wonderful & Healthy Logan County

What is Wild, Wonderful & Healthy WV?

No matter what your respective role is – to mitigate the opioid crisis, to ensure our children are ready for school and adults are ready to work, or to support economic growth – it all begins with healthy West Virginians. No one of us alone will have all the answers, but the direction we must go is clear, and together we can achieve our vision of a healthy West Virginia. Wild, Wonderful & Healthy Logan County’s Vision

Logan County, a place where all residents have the opportunity to live a happy and healthy life.

Priority Focuses

Food Desert.
Consumption of Sugary Beverages.
Physical Inactivity.

While Logan County has a myriad of health issues on which we could focus our work,  the Community Health Improvement (CHI) Committee will focus on improving food security, access to healthy foods, and opportunities for physical activity. The lack of access to healthy foods and physical activity opportunities in the county can lead to increased rates of chronic disease and a reduced workforce that impedes economic growth.

To accomplish this goal, we have defined three measurable objectives that will guide our work:

Objective #1: Reduce food insecurity among Logan County residents by 2% (from 17% to 15%) by December 31, 2027.

Objective #2: Decrease adult obesity by 2% (from 47% to 45%) and youth obesity by 2% (from 42% to 40%) by December 31, 2027.

Objective #3: Decrease physical inactivity in adults by 2% (from 35% to 33%) by December 31, 2027.
