Strengthening health and prosperity is a shared responsibility. A West Virginia’s policy makers work to bring more jobs to our state, we also need to work to create community environments where people want to live and work.
What is the Community Health Infrastructure Investment Fund? The West Virginia Community Health Infrastructure Investment Fund is envisioned to provide matching funds needed by local community leaders to improve health and achieve economic prosperity beginning with our state’s most economically challenged communities. This investment will play a critical role in promoting health, contributing to small-business and economic vitality, and making West Virginia’s communities more resilient and attractive to business development. It will work in places and sectors where conventional sources of investment do not fully meet community needs.
Communities are eligible for PILOT Community Health Infrastructure Investment Funding after they:
- Establish a cross-sector community health improvement team;
- Conduct community health improvement planning; and
- Develop a long-term Community Health Improvement Plan and a one-year Action Plan that addresses their priority health issue(s).
Community Health Infrastructure Investment Funding must be used for infrastructure changes to achieve community health improvement objectives. Funds must be matched 1:1 (in-kind does not apply). Funds may not be used for maintenance of existing community facilities.
